PeCan+ Capture the Flag Competition in Canberra

Save the date for the upcoming Canberra PeCan+ Capture the Flag 2-day Challenge Event. Saturday 5 Aug.– Sunday 6 Aug. 2023. Doors open at 9:00am for a 10:00am start. To register via Eventbrite, click here

High school students and their teachers are invited to join Canberra’s 2023 Capture the Flag training and competition weekend. Learn about cybersecurity tools and put them into practice as you capture ‘flags’ upon completing each cybersecurity challenge. Onsite tutors will provide support throughout the event. Saturday 5 August will be a training day, which is open to both teachers and students, with no (or very little) previous experience in programming or cybersecurity.

You will learn about Cryptography, Digital Forensics, Steganography, Reverse Engineering, and Software and Web exploitation. Across the three universities, you will hear industry presentations from ASD, Viden Labs, Cyconsol, and Teron Labs about what it is like to work in the cyber security industry. Sunday 6 August will be the competition day and is open to high school students (teachers are more than welcome as spectators or to join a teachers’ team!), where there will be a beginner, intermediate and advanced division.

Students are invited to register in teams of 4, but individuals can register to be placed in a team too! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place getters. Girls are strongly encouraged to compete with additional prizes for top-scoring female teams. The event will be held across three locations: the Australian National University, the University of Canberra, and the Canberra Institute of Technology (Reid).
